All Aboard.....a visit to the historical Irondale Cafe for some Fried Green Tomatoes. This time...we included the kiddos! The restaurant was very crowded on this cold March afternoon...it is definatley a well visited place for the Church crowd. Overall...we weren't really impressed. Lot of options, but getting rushed through the lines does not make this place very child friendly.
Fried Green Tomatoes - 4....everyone at the table has had them better somewhere else
Fried Chicken - 9...Cynthia, our resident Fried Chicken expert, gave it high marks...she thinks this is what should have made the top 100 list
Baked Chicken - 8 Karen really enjoyed this...and would try this again.
Counry Fried Steak - 5
Fried Okra - 8 .. Yummmm....Yummmm
Cornbread Dressing - 5 We had mixed reviews...
Bread Options - 9...Great....the kids ate more of this than anything else
Bread Pudding - 8... Instead of raisins...they used Blackberries...this automatically moves this up in my book.
Custard Pie - 5... Mom makes it beter.
Chocolate Pie - 7 Will gave it the grade...but Brady with his love of chocolate would have give it a 10.
Overall ...we didn't feel it lived up to their press.
The best part of the meal for the Adults...catching up with friends.
The bes part of the meal for the kids....watching the trains go by.
